A heat pump is an energy-efficient system that transfers heat between indoor and outdoor environments to provide heating or cooling. It operates based on the principles of thermodynamics, using a refrigerant to absorb and release heat as it circulates through the system.
In heating mode, the heat pump extracts heat from the outdoor air, ground, or water, even in cold weather. The refrigerant absorbs this heat and is compressed to increase its temperature. The heated refrigerant is then circulated indoors, where the heat is released to warm your home.
In cooling mode, the process is reversed. The heat pump absorbs heat from indoor air and releases it outside, effectively cooling the indoor space.
Heat pumps are powered by electricity and are highly efficient because they move heat rather than generate it. For every unit of electricity consumed, they can deliver multiple units of heating or cooling, making them an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution.
